The staff of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation has been directed by the administration to begin their day with the national anthem and end it off by singing the national song (Vande Mataram). The order states that employees have to sing the national anthem as they enter the JMC and that the national anthem along with the national song will be played on loudspeakers around the JMC arena.
On speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Jaipur Mayor Ashok Lahoty said that the goal behind implementing the order was to maintain a positive ambiance. He added, "We are not forcing anyone. It's an initiative to enhance nationalism among ourselves." Mayor Lahoty highlighted that the move will instill feelings of nationalism among the employees.
The national anthem commenced playing sharply at 9:50 a.m., after which the biometric attendance system has not accepted the entry for the day. Attending the 5:55 p.m. recital of Vande Mataram will also be compulsory for the employees before logging out for the day.
