BJP on Saturday decided to form a panel with a view to reviewing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film, Padmavati. A five-member committee comprising of top BJP leaders of the state will work to scrutinize the film, sources tell Republic TV. The committee is being made specifically to protest against Padmavati and its functions focus on carrying out dialogues with the CBFC and filmmakers.
The body will also continue dialogues with the Election Commission and Cinema owners.
Meanwhile, a bandh was observed in Chittorgarh on Friday to protest against Bhansali's upcoming film. Markets remained closed for the day as various social and traders' organisations supported the protest. A large procession from Chittorgarh's Padmavati Jauhar Kund passed through the city roads with women holding placards which said 'Stop insulting culture', 'Declare Bhansali a traitor' and 'Hindustan will not tolerate insult to women', reported news agency PTI.
Featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, Padmavati is slated to hit screens on December 1.
