WATCH: India Highlights PoK Atrocities At United Nations

  • India on Monday lashed out at Pakistan at the United Nations in Geneva.
  • As per India, Pakistan should provide freedom to PoK people from Pakistani occupation.
  • The latest comments come merely two days after former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Farooq Abdullah sparked a controversy

India made a strong case against Pakistan at the UN meet in Geneva today by making references to terror, illegal detention of Kulbhushan Jhadav and illegal occupation of PoK . The statement came during the Universal Periodic Review of Pakistan in the United Nations. The statement elaborated that, 

“We recommend the Government of Pakistan to provide freedom to people of PoK by ending its illegal and forceful occupation, to dismantle special terrorist zones, safe havens and sanctuaries and take verifiable actions, including on terror funding.”

As per India, Pakistan should:

  1. Provide freedom to PoK people from Pakistani occupation.
  2. Bar Military Courts from trying innocent civilians.
  3. Provide consular access without discrimination
  4. Allow judicial review and international monitory of cases tried by Military Court
  5. Respect legitimate criticism of people from Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

The latest comments come merely two days after former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Farooq Abdullah sparked a controversy by saying that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) belongs to Pakistan. His views were backed by Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor who took to Twitter and wrote, “Farooq Abdhulla ji, Salaam! Totally agree with you,sir. J&K is ours, and PoK is theirs. This is the only way we can solve our problem” (sic)
