The new US Envoy to India Kenneth Juster will arrive in India this Friday. His appointment comes eight months after Donald Trump took over as President. The Harvard Law School graduate has served the US government in several capacities since 1990. One of the factors that may have swung things in his favor was his experience in facilitating negotiations between India and US during the crucial nuclear deal talks. He was a key member of the US India High Technology Cooperation Group under George Bush.
One of the key priorities of the Trump administration is to bridge the trade deficit with India and provide a more favorable atmosphere to US companies in India. India also plays a crucial role in the US government's new South Asia strategy. Juster, as envoy is expected to start work on both these fronts immediately. His first key assignment would be the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad, which will be attended by President Trump's daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump. Kenneth Juster is expected to present his credentials before the President of India next week.
