  • Republic TV team confronted the fringe leader on national television. Makrana continued his unabashed character assassination of Deepika
  • Blames the media of holding a bias and supporting Bhasali
  • "This is not a threat, this is a warning to her"

Hours after the President of Karni Sena, Mahipal Makrana publicly threatened to maim actress Deepika Padukone if she continued to instigate the people of Rajasthan with her comments, Republic TV team confronted the fringe leader on national television. Makrana continued his unabashed character assassination of Deepika calling her a characterless woman who has no idea of Rajput history and probably isn't even a legal citizen of India and therefore has no business trying to portray the revered Rani Padmini on the big screen.

When asked with what authority he is issuing such violent threats ,the leader only increased the tempo of his unsavory and unparliamentary language, blaming the media of holding a bias and supporting Bhasali instead of understanding the sentiments of the people of Rajasthan at large. He went on to rather clarify that

"This is not a threat, this is a warning to her. Had it been a threat by now she would have been maimed"

Mahipal reacted sharply when called a "Gunda"by the reporter and in turn questioned the authority of the media in judging his organisation but also questioned the credibility of the CBFC by stating that the movie would do better if it won the approval of regional historians and community elders.

The leader responded to the reporters charges that the threats are unconstitutional and uncalled for and that respect should be accorded to all women irrespective of their profession or regional identity, by saying that there is a huge difference between the two women in question and a comparison can never be made, "an actress who makes her living wearing a two peice bikini can never be compared to a Goddess like figure such as Rani Padmini".

"If Maha sati Rani Padmini  or any other Rajput woman is portrayed in any misleading fashion then the makers and the actors of the movie will have to pay for their mistakes."

Makrana continued with baseless allegations that the movie was being funded from Dubai by dubious parties who only want to malign the image of Rajput culture and women. The confrontation ended rather abruptly when the Karni Sena leader chose to run away from the discussion by hurriedly disconnecting the phone instead of elaborating on the basis of his party's stand.
