Top Baloch leader Mehran Marri, who was detained at the Zurich airport in Switzerland, says it is an attempt by Pakistan to stop the global campaign against them. In an exclusive conversation with Republic TV's Aditya Raj Kaul, Marri says that Pakistan is in complete paranoia after the global campaign against them. Marri was detained at the Zurich airport and was taken in a bus to an undisclosed location and is still in their custody.
While speaking to Republic TV, he revealed that he was handed over a paper in German and was asked to sign it. He says he is a British national, who was born in Afghanistan and hence cannot be deported to Pakistan. Watch Mehran Marri speak to Republic TV in the video above or read the full conversation below:
Mehran Marri: Hello
Mehran Marri: Yes
Aditya: Hi, Is that Mr. Mehran Marri?
Mehran Marri: Speaking.
Aditya: Hi, I Am Aditya Raj Kaul From Republic TV, New Delhi.
Mehran Marri: Hi.
Aditya: How are you?
Mehran Marri: How are you?
Aditya: I Am Good. I just read your tweets, are you still under detention?
Mehran Marri: Yes, I am still under..I am a state guest.
Aditya: Oh, I understand. so what exactly happened, could you explain a little bit?
Mehran Marri: Yeah, I was at the airport and six, seven policemen came. I was with my family, wife and kids. (They) just put us in a bus and took us well, without saying anything.
Mehran Marri: Then they handed me documents. They said if you sign... I said why, what's Going On? So, so you are banned from coming here. I was here in September for the UN Session, since when have I been banned? They said I have been banned from the 9th of November 2017, from last week. So they said you need to sign the document quickly, we will tell you why.
Mehran Marri: So I signed the paper, it was in German. I Didn't know what I was signing and then they gave me a bunch of papers. The names used in those documents were not my names (Inaudible). They wanted those First. The cases against me. It's basically all Pakistani Embassy language.
Mehran Marri: Then they said I am a terrorist and the usual rubbish that Pakistan does. So the Swiss government has made a decision on the behest of the Pakistani allegations and in their favour.
Mehran Marri: It's In German, I can't even read the whole document. But the language and the names is exactly what Pakistan uses.
Aditya: Ok, But anything being communicated right now? Will they keep you there? And do you fear that they may just deport you back to Pakistan?
Mehran Marri: Nah, I'm a British citizen and I was not even born in Pakistan. So the irony of all this is what's Pakistan got to do with me? I was born in Afghanistan, I am a British National. I have nothing to do with Pakistan, I was not even born in Pakistan. So it has to be highlighted how Pakistan manipulates these western countries to stalk a British citizen born in Afghanistan. (Inaudible) Baloch, work against Pakistan, I expose Pakistan Therefore it is an arm twist.
Aditya: Ok And where are you headed right now?
Mehran Marri: Zurich, I am in Zurich right now.
Mehran Marri: I am still with them.
Aditya: And one last question, obviously there have been atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army in Balochistan that we have also reported on Republic TV. But of course, they are not happy with the global campaign against them, be it in Switzerland, in U.K or all over the world. Do you fear that they are nervous right now and that's why they are doing this? And do you fear for your family right now because you’ve been detained and the Pakistani diplomats can go to any extent?
Mehran Marri: I don't fear them In that sense. But (Inaudible) my family and children. Because in the past, They have killed family and children.
According to sources, the Pakistan Govt did not want the all-party Balochistan meeting, set to be held on November 18 in Zurich, to succeed. For the first time, all rival Baloch rebel groups from across the globe were to come on one platform and strategise how to globally expose Pakistan’s atrocities in Balochistan.
"At the behest of Pakistan Govt, all hotel bookings were cancelled as Islamabad was worried to see estranged brothers Hybiar and Mehran Marri coming together with other top Baloch leaders Brahumdagh Bugti of Baloch Republican Party and Hamal Haider's Baloch Nationalist Movement," sources told Republic TV.
