The latest Starbucks cups are based on the holiday season with doodles Christmas trees, presents, the North Star, and everything that speaks Christmas!
However, there are two unseen people holding hands.
The cups launched in October and since then people have formed a hypothesis stating that the androgynous hands may belong to a pair of lesbians.
This idea could have been generated from a video campaign that Starbucks launched stating “The Holidays mean something different to everyone”. In which, two women are seen standing at a table and holding hands right after which the holiday cup is revealed.
Many users then took to Twitter to jump to a conclusion and praise Starbucks for their ‘new festive advertisement with a lesbian couple’
However many others were critical about this and several said they would ‘Boycott Starbucks’ .
However, Starbucks hasn't confirmed their stand on it. But, they did respond positively to a Tweet that applauded their campaign.
Starbucks has faced criticisms over their holiday cups before. In 2015 and 2016, people claimed the monochromatic red cups weren’t holiday enough.
