On Sunday, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor mocked Miss World Manushi Chhillar and got slammed for his sexist comment. The 61-year-old tweeted, “What a mistake to demonetise our currency! BJP should have realised that Indian cash dominates the globe: look, even our Chhillar has become Miss World!"
And in little to no time he received a massive dose of backlash for this misogynist 'punny' joke. Soon after, the MP apologised for his outrageous sense of humor, asking users to ‘chill’. Following the Sunday debacle, on Monday, Manushi Chhillar took this joke in her stride, reminding us all of why she won the prestigious title (slow clap). The 20-year-old medical student tweeted, “A girl who has just won the World isn’t going to be upset over a tongue-in-cheek remark” She added, ‘Chillar’ talk is just small change - let’s not forget the ‘chill’ within Chhillar.
Now that is how an Indian Miss World does it!
Earlier on Monday, NCW chairman Rekha Sharma condemned Shashi Tharoor for his 'chill' remark. She took to Twitter to claim that she did not expect a remark like this from someone as educated as Tharoor.
