Over 2-and-a-half months after journalist Gauri Lankesh was murdered outside her residence in Bengaluru, Republic TV has learnt that the Special Investigations Team (SIT) probing the matter has taken an arms smuggler into custody.
The arms smuggler has been identified as Abbas Ali. He is said to have links with arms makers in Madhya Pradesh.
As per Ajit Hanamakkanavar, Editor-News, Suvarna, Abbas Ali is a known arms smuggler operating out of north-Karnataka and the weapon that was used in Lankesh' murder was similar to the type that Ali dealt in.
