After being missing in action for over two days, PAAS leader Hardik Patel on Wednesday finally addressed a press briefing in the state where he clarified the Congress’ stand on the reservations ahead of Gujarat Assembly Elections. The 24-year-old leader, who had canceled his last two public appearances, has now stated that Congress has accepted all the demands put forth by the Patidar community. Patels will now get reservations at par with OBCs without affecting the existing quotas, says Hardik.
“For all this, they have accepted them. Congress whatever they have talked about with us, formulas have been given. To keep in mind the backward classes.”
Speaking about the arrangement with the Congress party, Hardik said that they have demanded specific policies based on education and jobs. He added that “Congress has assured that already existing 49% reservation will not be disturbed.”
The PAAS leader added, “If Congress comes into power, the bill for reservation will be brought into the Assembly. The community members will get educational and economic help”
On speaking about the decision to stand against the BJP, Hardik said that the “Congress is working on the betterment of the community. Since the past two years, the Patidar community has been insulted and exploited. That’s why we have to fight against BJP.”
“Whatever is needed to be done for the betterment of the community. We will do it again and again,” says Hardik .
Furthermore, during the course of the press briefing, the PAAS leader confirmed that the party "never demanded tickets from Congress".
"For the last two days, the entire issue of tickets has come forward in the media. But we are not asking for tickets from anyone. We have not asked for a single ticket," says the 24-year-old leader.
After aides dump Hardik, the PAAS leader has now made a big bribery allegation and added that he was offered bribe worth Rs 1200 crore. He said, “People are trying to bribe PAAS leaders. And one vote for one thousand rupees is going on.” He said that all this was happening as no one was turning up for BJP events. Furthermore, Hardik claims, the “development model is only limited to the riverfront and has not reached the villages.”
“Just like our forefathers fought against the Britishers, we have to fight against these thieves the same way,” says Hardik Patel.
Confirming the PAAS fratricide, Hardik on Wednesday dissolved the core-committee. During the press briefing, Hardik said that he a sole spokesperson of his movement.
Earlier on Wednesday, Republic TV put forth sensational scoop based on the break up of Hardik Patels PAAS. Sources told Republic TV that PAAS led by Hardik Patel is staring at an effective dissolution. While there is an element of frustration in Hardik and his core support team, the reason for the breakup possibly focuses on how individual ambitions have taken over.
