Is There Still Hope For Padmavati? Lok Sabha Seeks Report

Team Republic |

The multi-party Lok Sabha petition committee has sought a report on the controversy surrounding the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati.

Acting on a plea from BJP MPs CP Joshi and Om Birla, both of whom had asked for the release to be stopped, the committee has asked the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry as well as the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) to come up with an explanation and a report.

Officials from the I&B ministry and the CBFC have been called in on November 30, one day before the film was originally scheduled to release. Padmavati has been mired in controversy almost since the get-go as various Rajput groups have protested the film allegedly distorting historical facts.
