The 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 is all set to be launched in the country, come July. The baby Brutale will be brought into the country by MotoRoyale – the firm which sells and markets MV Agusta products in India. The Brutale 800 will come here as semi-knocked down (SKD) kits and will be assembled locally for sale in domestic market.

The MV Agusta Brutale 800 has been updated with new features for MY2017, while it also gets new styling. It has a new fuel tank, full LED headlight and a redesigned tail-end. It also gets LED indicators, a new instrument panel and a redesigned pillion seat. Among things that remain unchanged, the signature slash-cut three-pipe exhaust is still there.

Powering the Brutale 800 is a slightly tweaked 798cc in-line three-cylinder engine from the previous version. The engine develops 109bhp@11,500 rpm and 83Nm of torque at 7,600 rpm. Power is sent using a six-speed gearbox, while it comes with a shift assist for clutchless gear changes. There’s ride-by-wire throttle and hydraulic slipper clutch, too. Electronic suite includes different riding modes, ABS and eight-level traction control.

The chassis of the Brutale 800 has been updated, too. It has a longer wheelbase and extended trail. Shock absorbing duties are carried out by a 43mm Marzocchi fork up front, and a Sachs monoshock unit at the rear. Braking force comes from a dual 320 mm floating discs (front) and a 220 mm single disc at the rear. The motorcycle rolls on grippy Pirelli Diablo Rosso III rubber.

Technically, The MV Brutale 800 should compete with the likes of the Ducati Monster 821, Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900 and the recently launched 2017 Triumph Street Triple S. However, because it’s an exotic motorcycle of sorts, it’ll be priced at around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), which is almost double the price of some its competitors.
