'Quantico' has been renewed for a short season three at ABC. The Priyanka Chopra-led espionage drama has received an order for an abbreviated run of 13 episodes.
The 34-year-old-actress took to Twitter to confirm the news of the show's renewal. She wrote, "So excited about the season 3 pick up for #Quantico congrats to everyone who made it happen! #AlexParrish will be back soon."
Reports suggest that the 'Baywatch' star's international appeal, a shift to focus on politics and a Netflix streaming deal helped 'Quantico' score a third-season pickup.
Excited, PeeCee even shared a cute boomerang video on her Instagram account, where she is seen blowing kisses. She captioned the video, "Let's get this party started! #QuanticoSeasonFinale."
However with the renewal, the FBI drama will have a new director as creator and executive producer Josh Safran is stepping down from the role, The Hollywood Reporter delineated. Safran, meanwhile, will remain on board as a consultant and shift to developing new projects. "My deal on the show was two years only and it's up. I'm leaving the show in a good place and capable hands," Safran shared.
The show was among a number of ABC series (including 'Agents of SHIELD,' 'Once Upon a Time' and 'The Goldbergs') to have its license fee cut. It now joins a drama lineup that includes 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'How to Get Away with Murder,' the final season of 'Scandal' and 'Designated Survivor'.
