Expected to be priced around the Rs 15 lakh mark bookings for the 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 have commenced
After a long wait, the 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 will finally be launched in India next week. Brought to India by MotoRoyale, the new Brutale 800 will be locally assembled as a semi-knocked down (SKD) unit which should ensure that it is priced aggressively. That being said, while its direct competitors like the Triumph Street Triple and the Kawasaki Z90 are priced around the Rs lakh mark, the Brutale 800 is sure to be priced higher owing to its premium status. Bookings for the 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 are now open.
As far as the bike is concerned, the MV Agusta Brutale 800 borrows some of its design cues from its elder sibling, the Brutale 1090. While it retains the circular headlamp it has now been fitted with LED DRLs. It gets a sharper fuel tank with tank extensions, an exposed red trellis frame, single-sided swing arm and a three-pipe exhaust. The bike also comes with a high-resolution instrument cluster and new switchgear.
At the heart of the Brutale 800 is a 798cc three-cylinder motor that now produces 108bhp and 83Nm. The engine continues to be mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike comes fitted with 43mm Marzocchi-sourced upside down forks up front, that can be adjusted for rebound and reload. At the back, it gets a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock setup. Braking duties are performed by two 300mm discs up front and a 220mm single disc at the back. MV Agusta has gained the reputation of loading its offerings with electronics and the Brutale 800 is no different. It comes with the latest MVICS electronics pack which includes eight-level traction control, three-level ABS and more.
The 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 tips the scale at 175kg and can record a top speed of 237km/h. Expected to be priced around the Rs 15 lakh mark, the new Brutale 800 will surely be more expensive than its middle-weight rivals but it also comes with a better electronics package and of course the aspirational value that the brand brings with it.
