The Mitsubishi Outlander in set to soon make a comeback in the Indian market.
Currently surviving on the Pajero Sport and the rather exorbitantly priced Montero, Mitsubishi Motors is gearing up to expand its presence in the country by launching the latest generation of its Outlander crossover.
Mitsubishi’s official Indian website mentions the Outlander, alongwith a ‘coming soon’ tag. The website also reveals a few key specifications of the vehicle. According to the website, the India-spec Mitsubishi Outlander will come equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission with a six-step sports mode – which can be operated through steering mounted paddle shifters. While there is no mention of the engine specifications, the company claims that the outlander can sprint from 0-100km/h in 11.1 seconds.
Also revealed by Mitsubishi India is the 4WD system which will be offered – an electronically controlled system combined with an active stability control. In this case, the Outlander should sport superior off-roading finesse as opposed to most other crossovers which come with an AWD system instead.
On the equipment front, the features confirmed by Mitsubishi are electronic sunroof, keyless entry, auto headlamps, leather upholstery, rain sensing wipers, and a 6.1-inch infotainment system paired with 710W 8-channel Rockford sound system. On the safety front – ABS with EBD, hill descent control and active stability control will be offered. While the teaser page has no mention of airbags – expect them to be very much present.
As a recap, Mitsubishi offered the previous generation Outlander in India – but it was eventually pulled off due to dwindling sales. The present generation Mitsubishi Outlander debuted in 2012, with a facelift coming in 2015.
