Ten-Second Takeaway

It’s here. A clean, crisp, London dry gin called Greater Than will be India’s first locally made, artisanal gin, and will be launched in Goa this September, Bangalore and other cities such as Delhi after that – depending on the kindness of the excise gods!

What We Love

For the uninformed in layman terms, the London Dry style means that the gin is distilled along with the botanicals or ingredients that add the flavour while the alcohol is being distilled, which no other Indian gin brand does.

Anand Virmani {a well-known name in the alcohol world}, Vaibhav Singh of the Perch Delhi fame and a few other enthusiastic gin-vestors are the force behind this Gin. After meeting a few years back, they realized that they shared a befuddlement with regards to the lack of a good Indian gin available in the market.

What makes this gin awesome are the 9 different botanicals that come together to make this gin quite citrus-happy. Besides Juniper, which is THE botanical that makes alcohol gin, there are coriander seeds, Angelica and orris roots, ginger, lemongrass, fennel, chamomile and orange peels.

The launch is slated for early September in Goa, and drinking this gin will add a whole new meaning to Be Indian & Drink Indian.

The price is expected to be at about INR 750 in Goa and INR 950 in Delhi for a 750 ml bottle.

It is slated to be launched in Bangalore sometime in September and then in Delhi and other parts of the country.

Gunpowder & Ignia are slated to be a few of the first restobars to stock this gin.
