French auto major Renault said on Monday that it would launch its premium crossover SUV Captur in India this year to enhance its product offering in the market. The Captur would be positioned above the company's existing popular mid-sized SUV, the Duster.
"We are delighted to announce that we will launch our premium feature-loaded Renault Captur in India this year", Renault India Operations Country CEO and Managing Director Sumit Sawhney said in a statement. He further said the Captur has sold over a million units worldwide and "will enhance our product portfolio as we aim to grow our presence in the SUV segment in India".
The Renault Captur debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It has both petrol and diesel variants, the former with 0.9 L and 1.2 L engine options and the latter, with a 1.5 L engine. The company, however, did not share details of the expected date of launch. Renault sells a range of vehicles, including the entry-level Kwid, SUV Duster and people's carrier Lodgy.
