Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata is confident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be able to offer the country ‘a new India.’ He went on to say that he is optimistic about an India under the leadership of PM Modi and added that the Prime Minister will deliver, in a recent interview with author Suhel Seth for CNBC-TV18.
Ratan Tata also reminisced about his times when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. “I have known Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. I turned to him when we had to change factories from Singur in West Bengal to Gujarat. I will never forget the way he found solutions for a company that was looking for a home,” the Tata Chairman Emeritus said in the interview.
He went on to add how quick the then Chief Minister Modi invited him to Gujarat and promised land for the new factory in three days. “On the third (day) morning he said, ‘here is the land that I promised.’ That just does not happen in India,” said Tata.
The interview also had Ratan Tata speaking about the Tata legacy as he reflected on the last few months of the company. Ratan Tata is confident that the group is in very able hands with Chandra and said that every Business has its ups and downs.
