India on Saturday defeated Australia by nine-wickets in a rain-hit first T20 match of the three-match series at Ranchi's JSCA (Jharkhand State Cricket Association) Stadium Complex.
Due to rain, India's target was set at 48 runs in six overs.
India scored the required 49 runs in 5.3 overs for the loss of one wicket. Opener Rohit Sharma was clean bowled by b Coulter-Nile in the second over with 11 runs on the scoreboard.
Shikhar Dhawan (15) and Virat Kohli (22) remained unbeaten.
Kuldeep Yadav was declared Man of the Match for his excellent and economical bowling. He gave away only 16 runs in four overs and took two wickets.
